Livestock Photographer turned
"PEople Picture" taker
Thanks for stopping by! My name is Caseelynn Shimmin. I’m originally from Virginia—a small town in Central Illinois—where I grew up on a purebred Shorthorn and Angus cattle farm. In 2018, I moved to northwestern Illinois to chase my dream of teaching high school ag. Now, I split my time between photography and my full-time job as a junior high and high school agriculture teacher at Bureau Valley in Manlius, IL.
These days, I live in Buda, IL with my husband, Marshall, and our daughter, Scarlett—my favorite little adventure buddy. Life is busy, but full of all the best things.
My photography journey started by tagging along with my mom, Cindy Cagwin-Johnston, to livestock shows across the country where we captured candid moments in and around the ring. What began with cattle and show sticks has grown into a real love for what my mom calls “people pictures.” I’ve found so much joy in freezing time for others—showing them how I see the beauty in the chaos, the quiet, and the connection.
While I still love a good stock show, I’m now focused on seniors, families, engagements, and weddings. I may not know my exact “specialty” yet—but I know I love helping people tell their stories through photos.
Let’s make some memories—book your session today!
